About me
Tim Van Milligan is a lifelong rocketry enthusiast, engineer, inventor, and entrepreneur whose passion began in 1976 with his first model rocket launch. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 1988, he began his career as a rocket scientist at McDonnell Douglas in Cape Canaveral, helping launch satellites into orbit.
In 1991, Tim joined Estes Industries as a design engineer, where he created numerous model rockets and earned a patent for his SkyWinder design. After being laid off in 1994, he wrote "Model Rocket Design and Construction" and purchased Apogee Components, which he has since grown into a leading rocketry company known for RockSim software, innovative rockets, and educational resources.
Through ApogeeRockets.com, his “Peak-of-Flight” newsletter, YouTube videos, and livestreams, Tim continues helping enthusiasts worldwide pursue their rocketry dreams.
