Chad Thevenot is the co-founder and managing partner of The Athos Group, an advisory firm that helps to launch and scale bold new social ventures. From 2021 to 2025, Chad served on the founding leadership team of the new University of Austin (UATX), where he engineered and led the effort to raise more than $220 million to launch UATX. Prior to joining UATX, Chad served as the executive director of the Institute for Humane Studies (IHS). He led dramatic growth and innovation at IHS, increasing its annual revenue from $3.3 million in 2005 to $21.7 million in 2021. From 1996 through 2004 Chad was an early advocate for criminal justice reform, serving in various roles. He earned his B.B.A. from the University of Texas and an M.A. from Georgetown University.
